POP WARNER FOOTBALL PROGRAM
Pop Warner football has been around since the inception of the
league in 1929 by founder Joseph J. Tomlin as a four-team conference
in Northeast Philadelphia. Since then, participation has steadily
increased to today’s record numbers. Over 240,000 youths
participated in Pop Warner-sanctioned football programs in 2003,
and those numbers are continuing to grow.
Each team consists of 16-35 (35 maximum) players. Each team plays
within the age/weight divisions of play, under one certain association.
Teams from one association will play teams from other associations
in their designated leagues. During the post-season, teams that
win their leagues will compete in regional and national competition
if they elect to do so.
